Art Nouveau Lamps

Art Nouveau Lamps

Here are some examples of Art Nouveau Lamps. I find these quite tacky, but everyone is entitled to their individual taste.

"Art Nouveau" is one of those terms adopted from the French to sound sophisticated, but it merely means "new art" if literally translated. Many people get 'art nouveau' and 'art deco' mixed up. "Art Nouveau" refers to a popular form of decoration during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It usually involved the depiction of flowers or leaves in flowing patterns. "Art Nouveau" was also a school of art and architecture in France and popular in the 1890's.

"Art Deco" on the other hand, represents a very popular style during the period of about 1925 to 1940. The art deco architectural and decorative art pieces at that time emphasized strong colors, the use of glass and geometric designs.
